As a kid born in the early 1980′s where the first stages of video games began, I became an avid gamer. At the age of 3, I started with the Atari 2600 gaming system playing games like Frogger, Star Raiders, Ice Hockey, Centipede and Pac-Man. By the time I was 4 years old, I moved up into the Nintendo gaming system playing old school games such as Final Fantasy, Zelda, Mario Brothers, Metriod, Castlevania, and many more.
Needless to say, by the time the Super Nintendo came out I was an experienced gamer. I spent most of my free time, if not outside playing street ball, inside playing video games or watching cartoons.
However, the fall of 89′ marked a new special interest for me. It was the year when NBC aired it’s new Saturday morning cartoon, Captain N the Game Master. The show was an immediate hit as it was a cartoon that expressed my interest in games and not to mention my imagination. I mean seriously, I can’t recall how many times I had thoughts of entering a video game world such as Zelda.
As for the plot of the show, Kevin Keene a kid gamer (like myself) was teleported through his TV and into an unfamiliar world called Videoland. By the time Kevin had arrived, Videoland was almost taken over by the evil Mother Brain. But needless to say, for the rest of the story Kevin (or Captain N) tries to helpĀ Princess Lana retake Videoland from the clutches of various popluar video game characters such as, Dracula (Castlevania), King Hippo (Mike Tyson’s Punchout), Gannon (Zelda), Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong), and Mother Brain (Metriod).
With Kevin’s gaming skills, tools, and help from his friends, he was easily able to defend Videoland from Mother Brain and her villains.
But lets take Kevin and his friends (Simon Belmont, Kid Icarus, Mega Man, and Princess Lana) and zap them from Videoland and into the World of Warcraft Cataclysm.
If you’re someone who plays games (or even watch South Park) casually or rigorously then I am sure you’ve either played, seen, or heard, of an online game called World of Warcraft Cataclysm.
Right now many players are finding it quite difficult to defeat the World of Warcraft’s third expansion Cataclysm. Therefore, taking back the lands of Azeroth from Deathwing seems like a challenge for Captain N and his N Team right? In fact it probably is. But if they were to embark of this journey just exactly how would they setup their party and join the ranks of Azeroth?
Well, I have it figured out like this.
Mega-Man

Mega-Man is small in size but very tough in combat. He is capable of taking a beating and at the same time quite capable of doing heavy damage. Therefore, I see Mega-Man suitable as the N Team’s guild tank.
Duke

Duke is Kevin’s pet dog, though he acts on his own so I can’t declare him as Captain N’s pet. But as a dog he was very agile and quick and I am sure those teeth packs a lot of bite force when in action. So due to his quickness and agility (and not to mention the bandanna around his neck) I am going to declare Duke as the N Team’s rogue.
Kid Icarus

I think the bow and arrow speaks for itself. Kid Icarus is the Hunter of the party.
Captain N (Kevin)

As you may know Kevin is pretty much the hero of the day, not to mention the most over powered character on the team and at the time of this writing the most overpower class in World of Warcraft Cataclysm is the Ice Mage. Therefore without a doubt, Kevin with his overpowered range Zapper and Nintendo Controller is the Mage.
Princess Lana

Although in the show princess Lana didn’t have any real abilities, but for the sake of making her useful, we’ll just make her the priest. Besides she looks like she could be a priest anyway. Well it’s either that or a druid and I certainly can’t imagine her transforming into a ferocious bear.
Simon Belmont

Simon Belmont was usually the weakest link on the show and will more than likely be the weakest class going up against Deathwing. So this one is easy, Shaman.
Now that the team is assembled, as you can see the party is pretty well balanced with one tank, one melee dps, and rest range.
However, will the N Team be capable of saving Azeroth from Deathwing like they did with Videoland from Mother Brain? Probably so.
Why?
Simple. Captain N and his team dealt with video games and characters that were created in the 1980′s. These characters and video games were perhaps some of the hardest encounters till this day. In fact, even I have yet to beat some of my old Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Sega games.
Plus I can a sure you that not too many people that I know were capable of completing games such as, Castlevania, Double Dragons, Super Mario Bros, Zeldas, Ghostbusters, Final Fantasy all under the age of ten.
But with the creation of today’s games, beating them is no longer the challenge, the challenge is how quickly can you beat them and not if you will beat them. This concept even applies to the World of Warcraft Cataclysm as top tier guilds race to see who can finish the content first.
Quite frankly however, I believe Captain N will have no difficulty of downing the bosses in Cataclysm and even the mighty Deathwing himself, but would his team beat top guilds like Paragon or Method? Probably not. However, I am sure his N Team would certainly progress much rapidly than the average casual.
Because now days, it seems that the word casuals means waiting until the content is nerfed or getting welfare epics through farming heroics. But this processes doesn’t just apply to the World of Warcraft and other MMOs, it even applies to single player games as companies are now capable of publishing new updates after release.
But in the end, Kevin Keene (Captain N) was an expert gamer and I am sure he along with his N Team of five or ten (ten if I include other appearing characters such as Zelda, Link, Mega Girl, Dr. Light and etc) will quickly learn how to re-spec and reforge their gear and most importantly not stand in the fire.
